Please read fully before using the Hot Tub
There is a £40 per 2-night stay charge for using the hot tub, which covers the cost of the wood
and water. This is preferable to be paid via bank transfer upon booking or latest, to be paid in
cash on the day of arrival (please let us know your chosen payment method).
We will need prior notice if you require using the hot tub during your stay, as it needs to be
filled with fresh water and prepared accordingly. This includes fueling the fire, lighting it, and bringing the tub up to temperature ahead of your arrival.
If you have agreed to use the tub, it will be your responsibility to maintain the appropriate handling and safety level and understand the risks associated with a hot tub. The safety rules are listed below, but the key hazards are the heavy lid, the wood-burning fire, the deep pool of water, and a wet body. The main risks associated with these hazards are crushing injuries, blunt trauma, burns, drowning, and slipping.
If you are using the tub, it will be your responsibility to maintain the correct temperature
throughout the evening. The fire will already be lit, so this should be a fairly easy process. If the temperature has dropped below a desired level, follow the user guide below to increase
it.
Hot Tub User Guide
● Lift up the lid with your hand, then use rope (pulley system) to fully open.
● Once open fully, tie off the rope to the left-side handle so it can not come back down.
● To close the lid, untie the rope, then give it a light but firm tug to displace the lid from the
rear wall. Whilst still firmly holding the rope, start to slowly allow for the rope to feed
through the loop until the lid is closed.
● Before entering the tub, locate the floating polar bear thermometer (if it is not already in the tub) and check the water temperature. Ensure the thermometer is submerged long
enough for it to get an accurate reading. (There is an oar present for stirring the water around to disperse the heat as it all enters from a small hole. It is recommended that this is done before getting a temperature reading to eliminate inaccuracies)
● The desired temperature for the hottub is 38°C – 40°C. Once the water is near the desired temperature, close the air vent on the fire to slow the fire down. These can be found below the fire (behind the tub) as a set of slits with a slider in front.
● It is advised that the fire is checked at an interval of every 30 minutes to prevent it from
completely going out. We will leave you with wood, firelighters, and a long lighter to keep
the water heated as long as you see fit. If the fire has turned into embers or completely gone out, use the lighter to ignite a sufficient amount of firelighter (the white kerosene blocks) inside the pit and cover it with a few varying-sized logs. Be extra careful not to burn yourself whilst doing this. (Remember: Open vents allow for a bigger, faster-burning flame for heating; closed vents allow for a smaller, simmering fire for maintaining)
● Please note that the tub CANNOT exceed 50°C. At this temperature the plastic tub, and
more importantly your health WILL BE negatively impacted. If the temperature hits 48°C,
please inform a member of our team immediately.
● It is strongly advised that the hot tub is not entered above 40°C
● If the temperature rises above the recommended temperature, close the vents on the
fire, open the tub lid, and stir with the oar to let it cool down.
● If the temperature drops below the recommended temperature and you would like to
bring it back up, correct the fire accordingly. The firebox operation procedure has been
covered in a prior point.
